  • Josephat Part I: Walking in the Ways of the Lord
    Scripture: Matthew 1:8 Wednesday, 07 February 2024

After the reign of king Asa, compromise brought forth an exceedingly wicked king to Israel and the idols were reestablished in Judah. Josephat reminds us that we constantly need to guard ourselves against idols by keeping to God's Word. If we take care of these two aspects in life, we do not have to fear the ways of the world.

8 Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.
    Matthew 1:8

  • Reformation and the Folly of Pride
    Scripture: Matthew 1:7 Wednesday, 10 January 2024

Studying the kings following Solomon, we see a mixing of paganism with the worship of God. As a result, each king dealt with unrest in their reigns. However, King Asa rectifies this by taking away the pagan worship in Judah. Yet, he would stop completely trusting in God as his reign would continue. So we study his reign and see the application to our walks as Christians.

  • A Divided Church
    Scripture: Matthew 1:7 Tuesday, 31 October 2023

As we study the genealogy of Jesus, it is important to analyze how the construction of the temple lead to division in the land of Israel. Because of Solomon's partnership with the pagan nations we see God divided the kingdom of Israel, one ruled by the line of David and and the other ruled by Ephraim. We see the fruition of this in the son of Solomon, Rehoboam, when he rejects the council of the elders. Finally the fruit of this division is Israel's fall into depravity. As a church, it is important to understand the signs that might lead us into apostacy.
